Health Guaranty and Contract
***We are happy to work with our puppy buyers on our contract. If
there is something that you would like to see changed or added, please let
us know and we can talk about amending.***
This contract is between Rottweiler vom Lauffeuer (RVL) and __________________________, hereinafter referred to as BUYER(s).

_____ Deposit Agreement – If sex, or temperament/type of puppy requested is not available (at birth for sex or at 7 weeks at temperament/structural evaluation) a full refund of puppy shall be given to buyer unless buyer request hold on next litter.
_____ RVL always reserves 1st pick male, and 1st pick female, if we decide to not keep a puppy out of the litter the order of reserved puppies will be bumped up. The order that you will be permitted to select your puppy will be determined by the date of your deposit. No puppy will be permitted for picking before 7 weeks of age when temperament will be tested, and confirmation evaluated. *We have no way of guaranteeing the number or sex of puppies that will be available in a litter, however if there is not sufficient number of sex or puppies for you in the litter requested and deposit paid, a full refund of the deposit will be issued.
What we expect from our puppy owners:
_____ If your puppy/dog is being sold with its tail intact (natural tail), Buyer agrees to leave the tail unaltered. Docking the tail without clear medical reason will be considered abuse/neglect by RVL.
_____ The Buyer agrees to provide a life-long commitment, comfortable environment, prompt medical attention, proper grooming and responsible care. This includes keeping this puppy/dog parasite free with proper nutrition, adequate shelter and fresh water available at all times.
_____ Should buyer choose not to have puppy vaccinated, or have RVL vaccinate their puppy prior to exchange of ownership, Buyer will not hold RVL responsible for any disease incurred.
_____ The Buyer is aware of the risk of taking their puppy to public places without inoculation, or insufficient inoculation. Buyer understands that RVL is not to be held responsible for parvovirus, or other contagious diseases that the puppy is exposed to after leaving the care of the kennel.
_____ Understand that your puppy will grow at a very rapid pace during the first 24 months. Buyer agrees to provide responsible care in regards to bones/ joints by providing professional, quality dog food and restricting harsh exercises (such as forced running, jumping higher than dog’s shoulder, care on stair cases, etc.) until the age of 12 months to help prevent hip dysplasia and joint dislocations.
_____ The Buyer promises to provide a safe environment for the dog, and never allow the dog to roam freely or be chained up/tied out without proper supervision. Your puppy will be microchipped by RVL in order to facilitate his return if lost or stolen.
_____ The Buyer agrees that if this puppy is purchased with breeding rights, that it will not be bred before the age of 24 months and only be bred to registered Rottweilers, and that this dog and the dog it is bred with must have official certification of hips (OFA, Penn HIP, or equivalent). If dog is bred prior to 24 months, health guarantees will be voided.
_____ If this puppy is being sold with limited registration the buyer agrees not to use this animal for breeding. RVL does not require that the dog is spayed or neutered. If the owner would like to spay or neuter their dog, they agree that the dog will be no younger than 18 months, preferably 24 months due to heightened risk of bone cancer and hip dysplasia in early-altered Rottweilers. If dog is altered prior to 18 months, health guarantees will be voided.
_____ This dog is NOT to be used as a fighting dog. Proper socializing is essential. “Over-socializing” will not compromise the dog’s ability to protect his family.
_____ If at any time the Buyer can no longer retain possession of this dog, RVL is to be notified and given first option of resuming full ownership of dog in order to locate this dog a new home.
_____ The Buyer agrees to contact RVL if any questions or concerns arise about the dog, such as housing, diet, health or training.
_____ Buyer has the option of requesting to purchase full registration later if limited registration is only purchased initially.
What we promise as your breeder:
TEMPERAMENT GUARANTEE
_____ RVL Guarantees the pup to be of sound mind and character at the time of sale. Breeding is only the first half of the equation in a dogs temperament and environment is the second half. We cannot stress how important the first 2 years are in forming the character of your dog. Good breeding is vital in providing a balanced base for you to start with, but your correct contribution is essential. It is your responsibility to properly train and socialize your dog from the time you receive it. Behavior, training, and socializing classes are always recommended, as well as any opportunity to expose the puppy to new experiences. The greater the variety of experiences as a puppy, the better adjusted he will be as an adult. Because of the profound impact the dogs environment will have on his character, we can only guarantee the dogs temperament for 30 days after the pup is sold. If, during that time, a licensed behavioral specialist concludes the dog to be of unsound mind, the pup may be returned for another puppy of equal value in the same litter if any are still available/applied to an upcoming litter or refund of puppy purchase price (minus travel expenses). RVL reserves the right to validate certifications of specialists, or have a second opinion from a behavioral specialist of our choice.
HEALTH GUARANTEE
_____ RVL guarantees this puppy/dog to be of sound health at the time of sale. A health record of all shots and wormings will be provided by RVL. The Buyer agrees to take the dog to a licensed veterinarian of his choice within 72 hours for a physical examination and notify RVL within 24 hours of any medical concerns. Failure to do so will void your health guarantee. Should your puppy be determined to be in ill health the cause of which is clearly attributable to RVL, the dog may, upon signed written diagnosis from said veterinarian, be returned for another puppy of equal value from the current, or the next available litter. This does not cover common puppy parasites. Even though all RVL pups are de-wormed regularly starting at 2 weeks, it is imperative that you keep your puppy/dog on a monthly heartworm preventative, or annual blood testing to determine clear and de-wormer as puppies and dogs will inevitably come in contact with intestinal parasites through their environment. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT NO BREEDER CAN GUARANTEE THAT YOUR DOG WILL NEVER GET SICK OR DEVELOP A DISEASE. ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT NO BREEDER CAN GUARANTEE WHAT YOUR PUPPY WILL LOOK OR ACT LIKE AS AN ADULT. THE SINGLE GREATEST FACTOR IN DETERMINING THE BEHAVIOR OF YOUR DOG AS AN ADULT IS YOU.
HIPS/ELBOWS/HEART/JLPP GUARANTEE
_____ RVL Guarantees that Full Registration pups will receive a fair or better hip rating and grade II or better elbow rating (ratings considered eligible for breeding per the USRC), and Limited Registration pups will not be severely dysplastic, however, the dog must be x-rayed for certification before the dog is 26 months of age for guarantee. In the event of Buyer's claim of deficient health status, buyer must: a) Provide receipts of premium dog food fed to dog over a period of at least twelve months prior to claim, or from time of homing if less than 12 months. b) Submit weight records from all vet visits, and/or submit a signed vet certification validating whether weight of dog is appropriate for it's lifestage. c) Submit signed document from Buyer delineating monthly exercise routine. X-rays showing the dog to be dysplastic must include the dogs microchip number scanned at the time of x-ray. RVL reserves the right to have x-rays repeated or PENN hip performed by an orthopedic specialist at the Buyers expense. Hips and elbows must be OFA pre-limed at 12 months (or PennHip at 6 months or later) before any IPO/IPG/Shutzhund/Protection work is started or guarantee will be voided. If x-ray results are determined to be a cause of injury or environment, no refund will be given. Breeding your puppy/dog before x-rays are performed or without following RVL’s breeding policy (see next clause) will void your guarantee. RVL guarantees our dogs hearts of genetic defects for 26 months. Puppies are guaranteed for life to not have JLPP. The Guarantee does not cover injuries, accidents or acts of God. RVL always reserves the right to have any diagnosis reviewed by our vet at RVL expense. No monetary refunds of services will be given under any circumstances. RVL agrees to replace applicable puppy with another puppy of equal value or the Buyer may elect to purchase a puppy of greater value and use the full amount paid to RVL for the original puppy (minus any delivery charges) towards the new puppy price. I will not take your original puppy from you. If you would not like another puppy, RVL agrees to return 75% of purchase price of puppy (minus any delivery charges). RVL reserves the right to have a veterinarian of their choosing confirm any claim of defect, and cause.
THE LEGAL STUFF:
_____ If this is a replacement puppy, Buyer understands that, although the dog may come with FULL REGISTRATION and be permitted for showing and/or breeding, the puppy/dog will not have any guarantees other than temperament and 30 day health.
_____ The contents of the RVL Puppy Contract are only applicable to the Buyer named on the contract and the dog/puppy named in the contract, and is non-transferable. Any agreement between the Buyer and RVL will cease immediately if the dog’s full or partial ownership is transferred to a third party or if the dog no longer resides with the Buyer.
_____ If the puppy/dog is ever found to be the victim of abuse or neglect, RVL WILL ASSUME IMMEDIATE POSSESSION OF THE DOG AND WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO PURSUE LEGAL ACTION. All monies invested in the dog thus far will be forfeited by the Buyer, and the Buyer agrees to be responsible for any and all legal expenses including, but not limited to, attorneys fees and court costs. The venue of any court proceedings will be held in Weld County, Colorado.
LIMITED LIABILITY
_____ The Buyer agrees to release and hold harmless RVL for any and all liabilities, damages, or injuries, caused either directly or indirectly by Puppy/Dog to any person, animal, whether actual or legal, or to any property whether real or personal. Furthermore, Buyer assumes full liability for any damages or injuries, whether physical or mental, emotional or economic, caused by Puppy/Dog, to any person, whether actual or legal, or to any property whether real or personal, after receiving and acknowledging delivery and possession of the Puppy/Dog. (In other words, once you get your puppy/dog it is your responsibility and if he eats your couch, we’re not buying you a new one.)
REGISTRATION:
_____ Registration papers will either be given with the puppy or transferred to the Buyer immediately upon receipt from the AKC if they are still being processed. The registered name of your puppy will be in accordance to our litter letter or theme. RVL will allow buyer to choose registered name so long as name meets our requirements. Registered name will be “Name” vom Lauffeuer. The Buyer is free to choose the “call name.”
PAYMENT:
_____ The puppy will not be released until payment is received in full.
The preceding paragraphs contain conditions established to ensure the wellbeing of the dog, The Buyer’s agreements will continue for the dog’s life and RVL will have the right to enforce the agreements.
